Prince’s first photo shoot in 1977, at the age of 19. This photograph was taken by !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , who was also doing his first professional shoot. Prince would soon be a major star, but 10 years later, Prince recognized Whitman in the LaGuardia Airport and still stopped to chat with him. Classy.

That’s a nice Fro. It has a good shape and consistancy to it.

When I was in high school, I was in a band. We traveled to MN and WI a few times to play shows and one time played at The Quest in Minneapolis. It had originally been opened as Glam Slam by Prince in the late 80s and then sold to and renamed by his former manager.

I remember when we played there I was kind of awestruck to be playing music in a place where he had once been.

Yup. I think it’s cool that, despite his fame and fortune, Prince still lived in Chanhassen.

In college, our jazz band went to Washington DC and played at Blues Alley . You want to talk about awestruck. I can’t begin to list the people who played there. Ours was an afternoon gig with few in attendance, but still. It was a very humbling experience.

1977, yo. But you sound like a man who knows a good Fro when you see one.

Not only lived there, but built an entire complex there so he could do everything he needed to do right there. He peformed shows for locals (like the Lynx this past year) and hosted other stars when they stopped in town (like Madonna). He made Minneapolis shine a little brighter on the pop scene.
